SCIENTIFIC RATIONALE
The treatment of pelvic and acetabular injuries has undergone remarkable evolution over the past decade. Advances in diagnostic imaging, three-dimensional planning, minimally invasive techniques, navigation, patient-specific solutions and perioperative management have significantly improved our ability to manage these challenging injuries. Nevertheless, optimal outcomes continue to depend on a thorough understanding of fracture morphology, surgical decision-making, meticulous execution and multidisciplinary patient care.
The 2027 SEPAS General Meeting aims to provide an international forum where experienced pelvic surgeons, trauma specialists, young consultants and residents can share knowledge, discuss controversial topics and critically analyze both established concepts and emerging technologies. The scientific program has been designed to bridge evidence-based medicine with everyday clinical practice, encouraging interactive discussion through expert lectures, case-based sessions, debates and technical presentations.
Special attention will be dedicated to complex acetabular fractures, pelvic ring injuries, fragility fractures of the pelvis, complications, reconstruction strategies, surgical approaches and new technologies including artificial intelligence, navigation, robotics, patient-specific instrumentation and digital surgical planning. Challenging cases and complication management will be discussed openly to promote continuous improvement in patient care.
A distinctive feature of the meeting is its multidisciplinary perspective, bringing together orthopedic trauma surgeons, pelvic specialists, radiologists, anesthesiologists, rehabilitation physicians and researchers. This collaborative environment reflects the increasingly integrated approach required for the management of patients with pelvic trauma.
Beyond scientific exchange, the meeting represents an opportunity to strengthen the growing European network of the Society of European Pelvis and Acetabulum Surgeons (SEPAS). By fostering collaboration between experienced faculty and the next generation of surgeons, SEPAS continues its mission of promoting education, research and innovation in pelvic and acetabular surgery throughout Europe and beyond.
We warmly welcome participants to Milan for two days of high-level scientific discussion, practical learning and professional networking dedicated to advancing excellence in pelvic and acetabular surgery.
